This illustration was created for a research publication to visually explain the concepts of equality, equity, and equivalence. The client wanted to expand on the traditional "equality vs. equity" diagram by adding a third version called "equivalence”. The characters are depicted with diverse backgrounds to emphasise inclusivity.

The illustration features three panels, each representing a different approach:

  • Equality: Depicts individuals receiving the same level of support, regardless of their unique needs.

  • Equity: Shows individuals receiving tailored support to ensure everyone can participate fully.

  • Equivalence: Introduces the idea that different methods and mediums can achieve the same results, emphasising diverse ways to provide the same experience or involvement, such as online versus face-to-face learning.

The illustration aims to help readers understand how equality, equity, and equivalence can be applied in educational settings, particularly at the university level. It highlights how different modes of delivery, such as online and face-to-face learning, can offer unique benefits and achieve the same educational outcomes.

This project involved close collaboration with the client to ensure the illustration accurately represented their concepts and met their publication needs.
