These posters were created to encourage people with these specific mental health issues to seek support. This is achieved by informing and educating the viewer, with the hopes of influencing their beliefs, behaviours, and attitudes towards these mental health issues. Each poster displays a scannable QR code linking the lifeline page for that issue. This lifeline page provides information on signs and symptoms and lists helpful support resources.
As the subject of these posters is mental health, having an approachable design was important, using language with a more compassionate tone helped achieve this.
The anxiety poster’s theme was about being overwhelmed, having racing thoughts, thinking negatively, panicking and fight or flight. Whilst the depression poster’s themes involved the mind, feeling trapped, suffering, feeling empty, numb and addiction. The art style used for this series was “Lo-fi”, which is a muted-toned, calm and nostalgic style heavily drawn from anime, vaporwave, and vintage styles. The Lofi style fit perfectly for these posters as the demographic matched and allowed the design to be more relaxing, calming, nostalgic and most importantly approachable.
