Activity 10

My VARK results showed a VRK Integrative preference, with my strongest areas being Visual and Kinesthetic, followed by Read/write (VARK Learn, n.d.). This makes sense to me, as I tend to understand something better when I can see how it works, read through the information and then apply it myself. I can see this reflected in my learning design practice through my use of visuals, clear written instructions, examples and practical activities. However, I need to be careful not to design only around the ways I prefer to learn. I should continue using a range of approaches so learners can engage with content in different ways.

Activity 11

My results showed that I am primarily a Reflector, with my next strongest preference being Theorist (Mint HR, n.d.). This makes sense because I usually prefer to take time to think through information, consider different perspectives and understand how ideas connect before reaching a conclusion. I also like having a clear model or theory behind what I am learning. In my teaching and learning design practice, this can translate into using reflection activities, feedback, examples and clear explanations of why something works. However, I need to make sure I also include more active and practical opportunities so learners who prefer learning by doing are equally supported.
